Hong Kong residents with BNO passport entitlement route may open up for settlement in the UK

British National Overseas BNO passports were issued to Hong Kong residents who were born before the handover of the territory – from the UK to China in 1997. Previously, BNO citizens were only entitled to visa-free access to the UK for six months. It is anticipated that the Home Office will announce shortly new rules which may allow BNO citizens from Hong Kong to live/work in the UK for five years. After which they may be able to apply for ILR and a year later seek citizenship.
